Experts at the Center for Diagnostics and Telemedicine are enhancing radiologosts' automated workstations to reduce report turnaround time amid rising patient volumes - without compromising quality. In 2025, the Center transitioned to in-house software, updating the workstation interface. In collaboration with the Department of Information Technology, a new structured report template for chest X-ray (CXR) descriptions was introduced. This format accelerates reporting, ensures comprehensive interpretations, and has reduced average CXR description time by 23%.

Yuri Vasiliev, Chief Officer of Radiology at the Moscow Health Care Department Medical Director of the Center for Diagnostics and Telemedicine shared:

"Radiologists handle high volumes of examinations daily, making workload optimization essential. We are implementing solutions that accelerate routine processes without compromising diagnostic quality. A prime example is our new structured report in the radiologist's workstation interface for chest X-ray. It has already reduced average turnaround time by 23%. We plan to expand structured reports across additional modalities."

The report template is a structured form featuring checkboxes, mandatory fields, and integrated reference libraries. Physicians complete it during interpretation by selecting parameters and adding details as needed.

"This design prevents oversight of key diagnostic criteria - the system requires completion of essential fields before finalizing reports. Templates minimize input to just a few clicks, boosting efficiency and quality compliance," shared Roman Voloshin, Deputy Director for Medicine at the Center for Diagnostics and Telemedicine. Standardized report template for mammography, fluorography, and sinus chest x-ray have also been rolled out.

Moscow's healthcare system has embraced digitalization for over a decade, integrating smart technologies into daily practice. This has streamlined diagnostics and treatment, delivering high-quality medical care.

The Center for Diagnostics and Telemedicine of the Moscow Healthcare Department, established in 1996, is a leading scientific and practical organization within the Social Development Complex of the Moscow City Hall. Its work focuses on implementing AI medicine, advancing radiology, management of healthcare departments, conducting scientific research, and providing education for medical professionals.
