Aakash Healthcare has completed nine years of operations, marking the milestone with an aggressive expansion plan to grow its bed capacity from 400 to 2,000 by the end of next year, with new facilities coming up across North India. The expansion will focus on super-speciality care, tertiary care, and orthopaedics, particularly knee replacement, alongside a continued push into medical value tourism.

The numbers tell part of the story. Over 50 lakh patients treated in the last nine years, 98,800 surgeries, and 10,000 deliveries. Add to that, a robotic knee replacement programme, and robotic surgery, and Aakash Healthcare sits in a fairly small league of hospitals in the region. A full spread of super-speciality departments and tertiary care built up over nine years in cardiac sciences, oncology, neurosciences, and orthopaedics -- with knee replacement, in particular-- are drawing patients from well outside Delhi and even India. 

As per hospital data, patients from 55 countries have made their way here for treatment, part of why the hospital has become a genuine name in medical value tourism. Now, the hospital is preparing for its most ambitious chapter yet. Aakash Healthcare plans to scale up from its current 400 beds to 2,000 beds by the end of next year, with new facilities planned across Delhi, Gurugram, Mathura, and Dehradun -- a deliberate push into North India, backed by partnerships with regional healthcare providers along the way. The idea is simple: no patient should have to travel hundreds of kilometres to access quality super-speciality care.

Aakash Healthcare has also established itself as a centre of excellence in clinical research. While over 25 clinical trials have been completed, 23 trials – both Indian and international are ongoing. Aakash hospital currently also offers DNB, DrNB, FNB, fellowship, paramedical, and skill enhancement programmes across multiple specialties under the Department of Academics and Clinical Research."

Nine years in, Dr. Aashish Chaudhry said its real milestone is not the number of beds it has added, but the number of lives it has touched, and it is counting on many more in the years ahead.
