The Abu Dhabi Agriculture and Food Safety Authority (ADAFSA) has spent 1794 hours on various awareness-related activities in 2019. Through a total number of 310 events and activities covered topics of food safety, livestock and the sustainable agriculture in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, ADAFSA reached out to thousands of students and visitors of festivals, exhibitions and events organized throughout the year. ADAFSA also organized internal awareness-raising activities for its staff. This reflects ADAFSA’s keenness to raise public awareness about its activities.
ADAFSA spent 441 hours on 72 awareness-related activities aimed at developing the livestock sector and enhancing biosecurity, which accounts for 24.6 per cent of the total hours. Meanwhile, the authority spent 423 hours on 62 activities about food safety, representing 23.5 per cent of the total hours. In addition to spending 285 hours on 52 activities aimed at raising public awareness about agricultural affairs, ADAFSA also spent 613 hours on 118 of its corporate programs and events.
In this regard, Dr. Mohammed Al Hammadi, Acting Director of Communication and Community Service Division, said that 2019 witnessed considerable diversity in topics addressed in the conducted activities, to suit the various sectors and target audiences from across the Emirate of Abu Dhabi. He noted the activities translate ADAFSA’s commitment to the educational and control roles to realize agricultural sustainability and food safety.
