On January 11, few passengers who were travelling on the Karnal-Mumbai Tejas Express fall ill due to stale food which was served by the catering staff. The passengers immediately complained about the foul smell from the food served especially, vegetable pulao to the concerned staff. Couple of passengers started voming and few felt some uneasiness after consumning the food. After complaint no medical assistance were provided to the sick passengers by the railway staffs.
The reason behind this problem was categorised by the authority was wrong style of the packaging of few packets, Only 27 packets were not properly packed.
Railway authority has also confirmed that they have taken stern action against the Areno Caterer, a show cause notice was served to them, along with a fine of Rs. 1 lakh also imposed on them.
Senior Railway officer has assured that in future all necessary steps will be taken to ensure the quality of food would be served to all outstation trains.
