In Gujarat, Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has decided to gradually de-notify the private hospitals as designated Covid-19 hospital following significant drop in new cases. After decrease in new cases and number of deaths, the ratio of positive cases also came down from earlier 35 per cent to just 2.5 per cent.
According to AMC, only 40 percent beds are occupied at present out of the total bed reserved in 75 private hospitals of the city. AIR correspondent reports that the state has recorded 1101 new cases of Covid-19 during the last 24 hours.
More than 17,56000 tests have been carried out in the state till date. 60808 tests were carried out yesterday. Out of 1101 new cases, the maximum 162 new cases reported from Surat. Ahmedabad city recorded 153 cases, while Vadodara city recorded 87 cases during the last 24 hours. Total cases of Covid-19 in the state have gone up to 86779.
At present 14653 active cases in the state, out of which 79 patients are on ventilator. At the other end, 972 patients have been discharged from various hospitals after recovery.
With this, the total patients recovered from Covid-19 have gone up to 69229. 14 patients have lost their lives yesterday, taking the total death due to Covid-19 in the state up to 2897.
Meanwhile, Union Government today said that the country's recovery rate among the COVID-19 patients has reached to 75.27 per cent. In all, 57469 COVID patients recovered during the last 24 hours. Health Ministry said, the total number of recoveries has reached over 2338000. It said, the recoveries of COVID-19 patients in the country are more than three times the active cases.
The Ministry said, this is because of effective implementation of the Centre-led policies ensuring efficient clinical management in hospital settings for critical patients and supervised home isolation for moderate and mild ones. The constantly increasing recoveries have ensured that the actual caseload of the country has reduced and currently comprises only 22.88 per cent of the total positive cases. Health Ministry said, this has also resulted in a gradually falling mortality rate in the country. Currently, India’s Case Fatality Rate is at 1.85 per cent, which is one of the lowest globally.
According to Indian Council of Medical Research, more than six lakh tests have been conducted during the last 24 hours. The total number of samples tested for Corona virus Infection so far has reached to over three crore 59 lakhs. The testing strategy also ensured a steady expansion of the national lab network. Today, with 984 labs in the government sector and 536 private labs, total one thousand 520 labs are providing comprehensive testing facilities to the people.
