India – May 12, 2025 – On the occasion of International Nurses Day 2025, American Oncology Institute (AOI), one of the leading and fastest-growing multi-disciplinary oncology networks in South Asia, along with Citizens Specialty Hospital, launched the campaign "Our Nurses. Our Future." This initiative honors the dedication, compassion, and resilience of nurses—true pillars of strength who uphold the very essence of patient care across all the centres of AOI in South Asia and Citizens Specialty Hospital in Hyderabad.
This year's theme, "Our Nurses, Our Future; Caring for Nurses Strengthens Economies," highlights how empowering nurses not only elevates patient care but also builds stronger healthcare systems and resilient communities. Recognizing the critical role nurses play in both oncology and multi-specialty disciplines, AOI and Citizens Specialty Hospital are committed to championing their well-being and professional growth.
As part of this initiative, a powerful digital film titled "Saving Lives Tests Courage" was unveiled—a heartfelt tribute to the bravery and compassion of nurses across oncology and multi-specialty care. The film captures the essence of their journey, illustrating how each moment spent with patients is driven by courage, empathy, and an unyielding commitment to healing. From comforting families in critical care units to holding the hands of patients battling uncertainty, AOI and Citizens Specialty Hospital nurses redefine the very meaning of compassionate care.
"Nurses are the heartbeat of healthcare. We are not just caregivers—we are leaders, advocates, educators, and fighters," said Saino Thomas, Group Chief Nursing Officer, CTSI, South Asia. "Through the ‘Our Nurses. Our Future.’ campaign, we honor their spirit and celebrate their indispensable role in transforming patient care across both oncology and multi-specialty disciplines in South Asia. When we invest in our nurses, we don’t just strengthen healthcare—we fortify our communities and drive economic resilience. Caring for nurses truly strengthens economies."
The campaign extends beyond digital engagement, with a series of above-the-line (ATL) and below-the-line (BTL) activities organized across AOI's 16 centers and Citizens Specialty Hospital. These include interactive sessions, recognition ceremonies, and awareness drives to highlight the critical role nurses play in supporting patients through their treatment journeys—whether it’s battling cancer or recovering from complex multi-specialty treatments.
The "Our Nurses. Our Future." campaign also brings to light impactful statistics underscoring the vital role of nurses. A survey by the American Cancer Society reveals that 95% of cancer patients deeply value the emotional support provided by oncology nurses throughout their treatment journey. Similarly, multi-specialty nurses play a pivotal role in post-surgical recovery, critical care, infection control and emergency response—ensuring patient well-being and safety at every stage.
The launch of the campaign is a continuation of AOI's and Citizens Specialty Hospital's commitment to patient-centric care that prioritizes empathy, expertise, and excellence. Through this initiative, AOI and Citizens Specialty Hospital reaffirm their dedication to empowering nurses, acknowledging their critical contributions, and enhancing their well-being as a cornerstone of sustainable healthcare.
