The State has reported 1,050 positive cases for the new virus within the last four days

With 203 new Coronavirus cases reported within the last 24 hours, the tally in Assam has risen to 6,056.
Assam Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said the State tally of Coronavirus cases within the State has touched 6,056 after 203 new cases were detected within the State.
Biswas took to Twitter and said, “203 new #COVID19+ cases detected in Assam today. Total cases 6056, Recovered 3762, Active cases 2282, Deaths 09.”
According to the Assam government, safety personnel, doctors also tested positive for the deadly virus within the last 48 hours.
The State has reported 1,050 positive cases for the new virus within the last four days.
The State had registered 249 COVID-19 positive cases on June 20 while 331 cases on June 21, 267 cases on June 22, and 203 cases on June 23.
In view of the increase of COVID-19 positive cases, the Assam government has imposed total lockdown across 11 wards in Guwahati from 9 pm on June 23.
Assam BJP MLA Krishnendu Paul, from the Patharkandi assembly, has been reportedly tested COVID positive and was admitted to Karimganj civil hospital on Monday. Paul's swab was apparently collected on June 18 and therefore the test result came out on Monday. However, Karimganj district Deputy Commissioner Anbamuthan MP confirmed the news of he has been tested positive.


"We had collected his swab on June 18 and he has tested positive. we'll collect samples of all his staff and relations. We also are trying to seek out his contact details," the deputy commissioner was quoted as saying. As of Monday, Assam reported an overall 5,586 novel Coronavirus cases.


Keeping in sight the rising number of COVID-19 cases within the state, Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal directed the State Chief Secretary on Monday to implement necessary steps for enforcing strong action against violators of COVID-19 protocol including those that don't wear masks and maintain social distancing norms.
Sonowal has apparently asked the Chief Secretary to issue directives to the Deputy Commissioners and Superintendents of Police in this regard.
State Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma while reporting Sonowal about the jobs being done mentioned that voluntary swab collection is administered in 12 testing centers.
Himanta Biswa Sarma further said that one swab collection center in each of the municipal wards of the town would be found out by the health department soon.
At the meeting, Sarbananda Sonowal also directed the Kamrup Metro Deputy Commissioner to require all needful measures to contain the spread.
