Milk is considered to be the best nutritious drink for health. It has also been proved that milk is very much beneficial in keeping our body healthy and fit. But do you know that if milk is not drunk at the right time, it can also have some harmful effects?

Know the right time to drink milk

If you want to build your body and muscles then you should drink milk in the morning. Apart from this, the night is the best time to consume milk. You can drink it with ashwagandha for added benefits which helps in improving sleep and boosting your memory. Ayurveda advises everyone to drink milk. But people who are allergic to it should avoid its consumption. The best time to consume milk is from evening till bedtime.

One should avoid drinking milk in the morning because according to ancient beliefs, consuming milk in the morning becomes difficult to digest. Because of difficulty indigestion, it can cause indigestion. It can also make you feel lethargic. People above 5 years of age should never drink milk in the morning as it can lead to bad acidity. It is also advised not to consume milk with salty food items like butter, roti.

Milk constituents - Milk is rich in protein, calcium, and riboflavin i.e. vitamin B2. Apart from these, it also contains vitamins A, D, K, and E including phosphorus, magnesium, iodine, and many minerals and fats, and energy. 

What Ayurveda has to say about milkshake

The biggest reason why milkshake is forbidden in Ayurveda is that according to Ayurvedic rules, mango, banana, melon, and other citrus fruits should never be eaten with milk or curd. When banana mixes with milk, it reduces the Agni i.e. gastric fire and effect on the intestines due to which toxins are formed. This gives problems like sinus, cold, cough, allergies, rashes. Ayurveda advises people to drink milk in the evening. Drinking milk at night promotes 0jas. Ojas in Ayurveda is a state when you achieve proper digestion. Milk before bed can help you fall asleep.
