Hyderabad, February 3, 2026: On the occasion of World Cancer Day, Kamineni Hospitals has launched an awareness campaign aimed at helping individuals understand their cancer risk based on family history. As part of the campaign, individuals can give a missed call to 040-6905 9100 between February 4 and 10, 2026, to receive a free expert consultation.

The initiative is designed for people who have one or more relatives diagnosed with cancer, as inherited factors play a significant role in certain cancers. Kamineni Hospital has also announced a 20% concession on doctor-recommended diagnostic tests during the campaign period.

Medical experts point out that while cancer can affect anyone, nearly 10% of cancers are hereditary, caused by inherited changes in specific genes. Cancers such as breast, ovarian, endometrial, prostate and colorectal cancers, occurring at a young age, or multiple affected family members across generations are key indicators that warrant genetic evaluation. Early identification of risk allows for targeted screening, preventive strategies and personalised care.

Dr. Annie Q Hasan, Senior Consultant and Head, Department of Genetics and Molecular Medicine, Kamineni Hospitals, said that family history is often the first warning sign of inherited cancer risk. “Genetic counselling helps assess this risk accurately and enables timely surveillance and preventive interventions, which can significantly improve outcomes,” she said.

Dr. Gayatri Kamineni, Chief Operating Officer, Kamineni Hospitals, said the campaign is aimed at reaching families in the community who may be unaware of their cancer risk. “Many people ignore family history until symptoms appear. Through this missed call initiative, we want to encourage the public to come forward, understand their risk early and take timely preventive steps,” she said.

Kamineni Hospitals has a dedicated Department of Genetics and Molecular Medicine, supported by board-certified genetic counsellors, working closely with oncology and allied specialties to provide comprehensive risk assessment and personalized management plans.
