Hyderabad, 10th November 2025: CARE Hospitals, Banjara Hills, widely recognized as a pioneer in advanced cardiac care in India, has successfully performed an Atrial Fibrillation (AF) Ablation using the newly launched Q Dot technology, placing the hospital among the first centres in India to adopt this next-generation electrophysiology platform.

The procedure was performed on a 57-year-old woman diagnosed with persistent atrial fibrillation and biatrial cardiomyopathy and she is currently stable and maintaining normal sinus rhythm following the intervention under the care of Dr. M. Srinivasa Rao, Regional Clinical Director & Sr. Interventional Cardiologist, CARE Hospitals, Banjara Hills.

Q Dot is the latest advancement in catheter ablation technology, designed to deliver high-power, short-duration energy with enhanced temperature control and precision. This allows electrophysiologists to complete complex AF procedures in a shorter duration while improving safety and reducing the risks associated with prolonged exposure to anesthesia and radiation.

Speaking about the achievement, Dr. Ramakrishna SVK, Clinical Director – Cardiac Electrophysiology at CARE Hospitals, Banjara Hills said that the arrival of Q Dot represents a significant development in the treatment of atrial fibrillation in India. He stated that the technology brings a higher degree of accuracy and consistency to ablation therapy, particularly for patients living with long-standing arrhythmias who require advanced intervention beyond medical therapy.

Commenting on the milestone, Mr. Biju Nair, Zonal Chief Operating Officer, CARE Hospitals, said that the successful procedure reflects the strength of the hospital’s cardiac program and the depth of its sub-specialty teams. He added that CARE Banjara has been at the forefront of introducing new-generation technologies in cardiac care and will continue to expand access to advanced treatment for patients across the country.

Atrial fibrillation affects nearly 1% of India’s population, with prevalence increasing among people over 40. This development is expected to benefit individuals suffering from symptomatic or persistent atrial fibrillation who have not responded adequately to medication or who are at risk of long-term complications such as heart failure, stroke, and reduced quality of life. It also supports cardiologists, internists, and referring physicians who are seeking reliable clinical partners for electrophysiology evaluation, second-opinion consultations, or interventional management of rhythm disorders. Patients and families seeking clarity on treatment suitability may reach out to the Cardiac Electrophysiology team at CARE Banjara for clinical assessment and counselling.

The successful introduction of Q Dot further strengthens CARE Hospitals, Banjara Hills as a leading centre for advanced cardiac electrophysiology in India and reinforces the organisation’s commitment to combining medical expertise with future-ready technology to improve outcomes for patients with complex cardiac conditions.
