In Assam, 666 COVID-19 cases have been detected in the state during the last 24 hours.
Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma in a tweet informed that a total of 38 thousand 585 tests were conducted in that period and the positivity rate is 1.73 per cent. The Minister said that Assam has reported nearly 87 per cent recovery rate . There are around 27 thousand active cases in the state.
Meanwhile, an awareness drive is being carried out across the state ahead of the festive season including Durga Puja.
In Odisha, covid-19 recovery has crossed 2.5 lakh mark. 2622 patients were reported cured yesterday taking the total number of recoveries in the state to 2,52,197. And the cumulative caseload has increased to 2,72,250 so far.
The state which once reported 4000 plus cases daily in the last week of last month, is now witness to the daily infection plunging below 2000. As a corollary, the active caseload too has been slumping by the day with the current count being 21,454.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik in a video message to the people of the state has appealed to them to be extra during the upcoming festivals like Durga Puja and Deepavali.
Describing the virus as having a critical character, the Chief Minister urged people to pledge against viral spread in the state by avoiding crowd while still sticking to covid-19 preventive essentials like face-masking, social distancing and hand sanitizing.
