North-East states COVID-19 news update

Manipur - In the last twenty four hours, a female aged 75 years from Imphal West expired at Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences (JNIMS) Imphal due to COVID-19 and other co-morbid health conditions. The total number of deaths due to the virus increased to 18 in Manipur. On the other hand, 78 persons including 5 personnel from Central Armed Police Forces were confirmed as new COVID-19 positive cases in Manipur during the past twenty four hours. Out of the new positive cases, 69 locals do not have travel history and are suspected to be infected with the virus through local transmission. Meanwhile, 55 people were discharged from different hospitals and COVID Care Centres after they were found negative of COVID-19 on the RT PCR test. So far Manipur has recorded total positive cases of 4765 and out of this 2789 were fully recovered and discharged from different COVID Care Centres. The number of active cases now is 1958 and the recovery rate registered today is 58.53 percent. A 100 bedded COVID Care Centre was inaugurated at Model School of Jiribam district of Manipur today. The manpower of the centre has already been arranged and the centre will start functioning immediately.

Meghalaya - In Meghalaya, as the number of COVID-19 cases continue to rise, District Administration of East Khasi Hills district today began random antigen testing in Police Bazaar and Iewduh market. Deputy Commissioner M War Nongbri said that authorities are targeting to conduct over 500 test today and depending on the situation, they would take a call on how long the testing should continue. Meanwhile, Directorate of Health Services informed that 36 new COVID 19 cases were detected today out of which 24 were from East Khasi Hills district, three from Ri-Bhoi, one each from East Jaintia Hills and South West Garo Hills and seven from West Garo Hills district. With 36 new cases the total number of active cases in the State stands at 765. Four COVID 19 patients also recovered today taking the total number of recoveries to 683.

Mizoram - In Mizoram, 26 fresh Coronavirus cases have been detected in the past 24 hours and one patient recovered from the infections yesterday. With this, the total number of COVID-19 cases in the state has reached 815. According to an official statement, so far 372 patients have been discharged after recovery and presently 443 patients are undergoing treatment.

Nagaland - In Nagaland, 61 new positive cases of COVID-19 have been reported yesterday, taking the total confirmed cases in the state to 3,455. Health and Family Welfare Minister S Pangnyu Phom in a tweet this afternoon said, out of 577 samples tested, 34 cases were from Dimapur, 24 in Kohima, 2 in Zunheboto and 1 in Mokokchung. The Minister said necessary contact tracing has been activated and all primary contacts are under self isolation. 108 people recovered from the infection today. With this, the total active cases in the state is 1,911, while 1,530 have recovered. So far, seven persons have lost their lives and 6 cases have migrated to other states.
