Made-in-India health-tech product combines photobiomodulation with adaptive personalisation; clinical evaluation found 80% of women experienced zero pain after use.

Hyderabad, 21st September, 2026: Litemed India, the Hyderabad-based health-tech firm, has introduced Curapod M, a science-led solution developed specifically for menstrual pain and cramps. Fully engineered and manufactured in India, Curapod M brings together medical-grade photobiomodulation (PBM), adaptive personalisation and digital intelligence to address an experience that women have been expected to plan their lives around for generations. It is built around a simple idea: the day should remain hers. Curapod M is licensed by CDSCO and registered with the US FDA.

At the centre of Curapod M is a clinically validated photobiomodulation platform designed to work on biological processes associated with menstrual pain, including prostaglandin-linked pathways involved in cramping. In clinical evaluation, 80% of women experienced zero pain after using Curapod M. The drug-free, hormone-free therapy is designed for use around the lower abdomen, allowing the technology to fit into the day rather than asking women to pause it.

“Menstrual pain is driven by real biological processes. With Curapod M, the intent was to go beyond simply responding to the sensation of pain and build technology that works further upstream on the mechanisms associated with it. That is where photobiomodulation and adaptive personalisation come together.” said Surya Prakash, Founder & Chief Technology Officer, CURAPOD.

Curapod M uses specific red and near-infrared wavelengths through photobiomodulation, supported by a proprietary adaptive engine that personalises therapy. Its companion app learns from the user’s cycle, pain patterns, and therapy history and is designed to anticipate the likely intensity of an upcoming cycle. Together, the device and app shift the experience from reacting to pain to anticipating and managing it more intelligently.

“For generations, women have learned to organise parts of their lives around menstrual pain. We believe the next generation should inherit something different. Curapod M is our attempt to change that expectation through science and technology.” said Sri Velliyur, Co-Founder & CEO, CURAPOD.

Curapod M is expected to roll out across India through Curapod’s website, Amazon, and Flipkart, with an indicative launch price of around ₹11,999. Availability will extend across metros and Tier 2 markets.

The scale of the concern is significant. A 2025 meta-analysis of 31 studies across India estimated that 53% of adolescent girls aged 10–19 experience menstrual pain, with individual studies reporting prevalence ranging from 26.3% to 84.2% depending on the population and methodology. The impact extends beyond physical discomfort, with girls experiencing menstrual pain 4.9 times more likely to miss college, while research has found a 3.2 times higher likelihood of reduced concentration and 2.4 times higher likelihood of poor work satisfaction. A 2023 review also reported that nearly 48% experienced sickness absenteeism, highlighting how menstrual pain can affect education, work, productivity and quality of life even when women continue with their daily routines.

The launch builds on Curapod’s broader pain-technology platform, already used across more than 50,000 Indian households and over one million therapy sessions. Curapod M extends that scientific foundation into women’s health, combining PBM with adaptive technology in a compact form designed to move with the day rather than interrupt it.

“India has the science and engineering capability to build healthcare innovation for the world. But invention alone does not create impact. Awareness, trust, adoption and distribution determine whether great science actually reaches people. Curapod M gives us an opportunity to build not only an India-made technology, but an India-led women’s health category with global relevance.” said Aditi Wadhwa, Chief Marketing Officer, CURAPOD.

For Curapod, the launch is intended to mark a larger shift in how menstrual pain is approached, from an experience women are expected to accommodate every month to one that science and technology can help them manage with greater agency. The ambition behind Curapod M is to help change what future generations of women have to accept as a normal part of their day - bringing the brand thought, “Your day, back in control,” to life
