Hyderabad, December 18th, 2025: Amor Hospitals successfully treated and discharged Baburao, a 28-year-old factory worker, who survived a life-threatening industrial accident involving chemical exposure, severe burns, and acute respiratory distress. On December 2nd, Baburao, who fell into a chemical tank at his work place, while attempting to clean it, was rushed to the emergency department. He was brought in unconscious state with a history of vomiting and aspiration of food along with chemical exposure.

On arrival, the patient was immediately intubated and placed on mechanical ventilation due to respiratory failure. Emergency decontamination measures were promptly initiated. During the process, Baburao was diagnosed with 22–25% second-degree chemical burns, which required surgical debridement and regular wound dressings. Due to aspiration of food particles and inhalation of chemical fumes, he developed Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome (ARDS), necessitating prolonged ventilator support and intensive critical care management.

Through meticulous multidisciplinary care, the patient gradually responded to treatment, was successfully weaned off ventilator support, and recovered from associated infections. After a challenging hospital stay and sustained medical supervision, Baburao made a steady recovery and was discharged in stable condition on December 13th. He is doing fine now.

Commenting on the case, Dr. Kishore B Reddy, MD, Amor Hospitals said, “ This case reflects the importance of rapid emergency response, advanced critical care, and teamwork across specialties. Baburao’s recovery from such a severe chemical injury and ARDS is a testament to the dedication of our medical team and the strength of integrated care at Amor Hospitals. We are proud to have given him a second chance at life.”

The coordinated efforts of the medical team played a pivotal role in this outcome. The treatment was led by critical care head Dr Pratyusha along anaesthetist Dr Jagadish aided by pulmonologist Dr Narayan, plastic surgeon Dr Tejaswi Das, and were supported by general medicine experts Dr Lingaiah and Dr Ravindra.

Once again, Amor Hospitals proved that it continues to remain committed to delivering advanced, compassionate care for complex medical emergencies and occupational injuries. Success in this case is a feather in the cap for hospital's critical care, Pulmonology and plastic surgery teams.
