For Rs 628 crore JB Chemicals to buy brands from Sanzyme

With Rs 628 crore, the board of JB Chemicals will acquire a bunch of brands from Sanzyme Private Limited (SPL).

With Rs 628 crore, the board of JB Chemicals will acquire a bunch of brands from Sanzyme Private Limited (SPL). The brands in question are Sporlac, Oxalo, Lobun, Nano-Leo and Gynogen. 

Sporlac is India’s third-largest probiotics brand. Oxalo is a risk-free therapy that can decalcify kidney stones. Whereas, Lobun can delay the progression of chronic kidney diseases. The brands have a reach of 3 lakh chemists and 1 lakh prescribers. 

Nano Leo is a pro-sexual nutrient formulation for libido, erection, and orgasm in patients with erectile dysfunction. Gynogen stimulates the growth and recruitment of immature ovarian follicles in the ovary and is routinely used as a part of Assisted Reproductive Technology.

The turnover of these brands in FY20-21 was Rs 88 crores and for FY21-22 it was Rs 75 crores. The deal will mark JB Chemicals' entry into a range of sectors like probiotics, therapeutic nutraceuticals and reproductive health. 

The deal will close next month and is the first acquisition of JB Chemicals. JB Chemicals will scale up these brands pan-India. The brands will also gain immense visibility using JB Chemicals distribution network. 

They are a profitable business whose net profit in the quarter ended in September 2021 was Rs 97.88 crore. Citing IQVIA MAT December 2021 data, JBCPL said the revenue for the combined brands was Rs 160 crore.
