Making a temporary opening in the intestines for the passage of motions-Colostomy in kids is done for birth defects like absent anus or absent nerve cells (Hirschsprung's disease) or damaged large intestines. The family should take care of this colostomy until the reversal operation is performed after an appropriate period and weight gain. During this time, parents, especially mothers, need a lot of emotional and moral support apart from the colostomy care guidance. We are starting a first of its kind “Pediatric Colostomy Support Group “ as a KIMS Cuddles Pediatric Surgery Team Initiative. Our KIMS Cuddles team of pediatric surgeons - Dr. Yoga Nagendhar, Dr.Manisha Reddy, Dr.Avinash Palreddy, Dr.Aashish, together they took this initiative to support the well being of the family taking care of these colostomy babies. This group provides a platform for parents to interact with the support systems, care, guidance and the emotional support needed in this special phase of the kids care.
