The 5th edition of the Hospital Engineering Summit brings together experts shaping India’s healthcare design ecosystem.
New Delhi, 22nd September 2025: HOSMAC, Asia’s leading Hospital Planning and Management Consultancy, successfully hosted the 5th edition of the Hospital Engineering Summit (HES) at The Lalit, New Delhi on Saturday. This year’s summit convened almost 200 delegates including hospital owners, CXOs, architects, engineers, planners, and technology experts to deliberate on the theme of “Balancing Quality, Cost & Effßiciency in Hospital Design.” Since its inception in 2018, the Hospital Engineering Summit has emerged as a premier knowledge-sharing platform for India’s healthcare design and infrastructure ecosystem. The 2025 edition focused on exploring new technologies, evolving design practices, and the cost-quality conundrum that healthcare providers face in building and upgrading facilities. The Hospital Engineering Summit 2025 featured a rich line-up of sessions and discussions. It began with a keynote on ‘Key Elements for a Quality Hospital Design’ delivered by Ar. Nandini Bazaz, Director, Architecture, HOSMAC, followed by a high-energy panel debate on ‘Pre-Engineered vs Conventional Construction’, that brought together experts from Capacite, Steelion Prefab Infra Solutions, and Max Hospital. Uday Kumar, Managing Director of HOSMAC Middle East LLC, elaborated on ‘How to Plan a Robust yet Cost Efficient MEP design for Hospital Buildings’ using his experience of projects in the UAE. Addressing the gathering, Dr. Vivek Desai, Founder & Managing Director, HOSMAC, said “Hospitals are among the most complex buildings to design, where functionality, compliance, technology, and cost must be carefully balanced. Yet hospital engineering, which accounts for nearly one-third of construction costs, has long been a neglected subject, with limited awareness among doctors, administrators, and hospital owners. Through our annual Hospital Engineering Summit, we strive to bridge this gap and aim to build efficient, patient-centric facilities that can shape the next decade of India’s healthcare infrastructure. The fifth edition has been a resounding success, and we are deeply grateful to our partners, speakers and delegates for their support.” One of the key highlights of the event was the ‘Quality vs Cost Conundrum’ panel, where leaders from Max Healthcare, Sharda University, Narayana Health, and Amrita Institute of Medical Science shared perspectives. In another engaging session, ‘Design Challenges: Structure vs Architecture vs MEP vs Interiors vs Regulations’ was explored under the moderation of Dr. Vivek Desai. The summit also delved into ‘Enhancing Design Efficiency Using Technology’, led by Ar. Mihir Desai and Ar. Ishan Desai, followed by a thought-provoking discussion on ‘Should Hospitals Opt for EPC Contracting’, with contributions from L&T Construction, Mott MacDonald, and Army Hospital R&R. The day concluded with fireside conversations on Strategizing Medical Equipment Procurement and a forward-looking session on Creating Future-Ready Labs in India. The knowledge shared and networks built during HES 2025 are expected to drive transformative change in hospital design, helping India achieve more efficient, patient-centric, and cost-effective healthcare infrastructure.
