Kashmir has cordoned off the containment zones in view of the standard operating procedure to contain the Coronavirus spread when the valley is in its 28th day of lockdown on Wednesday. The restriction of any movement or assembly of people is strictly implemented. According to the authorities, security forces on the ground have sealed off major main roads in the valley, erecting barriers in the other linkways and alleys to check unnecessary movement of people and to administer the lockdown. Persons with valid passes are only being allowed to take to the street.
The local mohalla committees in the red zones have been reached out to brought onboard to administration's efforts to contain COVID-19 spread. An elaborate and comprehensive mechanism has been put in place to ensure daily requirements of the residents are covered until the restrictions are lifted. Markets are closed, public transport off-road and only pharmacies and groceries are allowed to open. The total number of COVID-19 cases in the valley is 278 with four fatalities and 20 people have recovered in the valley.
