IIT Madras and ALERT come together to evangelise the cause of saving lives

ALERTATHON, a run for the cause of Saving Lives, has become a student-led movement with DOMS IIT Madras conducting ALERTATHON Campus Edition in association with SAMANVAY.

Chennai, November 2nd, 2025: ALERTATHON, a run for the cause of Saving Lives, has become a student-led movement with DOMS IIT Madras conducting ALERTATHON Campus Edition in association with SAMANVAY. The run created awareness about the need to empower the common man in emergency response.

 

With over 700 participants, the event was amply supported by participation from students, faculty, inmates of IIT Madras and runners off campus. Chief guest Mr. V. Shankar, Director of Acsys Investments Pvt. Ltd and Founder of CAMS, and a distinguished alumni of IIT Madras, flagged off this impact-driven event. Mr. V. M. Muralidharan, Chairman of ALERT, Chairman of Ethiraj College for Women, Mr. Rajesh Trivedi, Co-Founder and Managing Trustee of ALERT, Dr. K Saji Mathew, Head of the Department of Management Studies, graced the event. A CPR Experience zone by ALERT at the venue provided an opportunity for all the runners to learn about the basic life skill of administering effective CPR when in need.

 

Speaking about ALERT, Mr. V.M.Muralidharan said, "ALERT is steadily marching towards the goal set for it by Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam, to train one in every family in emergency response".

 

Mr. Shankar said, "This is a very important cause and as a proud alumnus of IIT Madras, I am glad to see that IIT Madras has chosen to support this cause towards Saving Lives."

 

Mr. Rajesh Trivedi, Thanking IIT Madras and Team Samanvay for bringing ALERTATHON into the IIT campus for it to become a student-led movement in the future, said, "Together let's build an India where Community First Response becomes a Civic Responsibility to save millions of lives."

 

The event was supported by ONGC, Akshayakalpa and KaysFit Academy.
