Immuneel Therapeutics and Tata Memorial Centre Sign Strategic MoU to Advance Cell and Gene Therapy Research in India

Immuneel Therapeutics Pvt. Ltd., an Indian company pioneering cell and gene therapy, has entered into a strategic Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Tata Memorial Centre (TMC), an aided institute under the Department of Atomic Energy and India’s leading comprehensive cancer treatment and research institutions, to accelerate clinical and translational research in advanced cell and gene therapies.

Bengaluru – 15 July, 2026: Immuneel Therapeutics Pvt. Ltd., an Indian company pioneering cell and  gene therapy, has entered into a strategic Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Tata Memorial  Centre (TMC), an aided institute under the Department of Atomic Energy and India’s leading  comprehensive cancer treatment and research institutions, to accelerate clinical and translational  research in advanced cell and gene therapies. 

The collaboration marks a significant step toward strengthening India’s innovation ecosystem in  oncology and improving access to next-generation therapies for patients with difficult-to-treat cancers.  Through this partnership, Immuneel and TMC aim to combine their respective expertise in clinical  research, product development, manufacturing, and cancer care to drive meaningful advancements in  immunotherapy and precision medicine. The partnership also exemplifies the growing synergy  between government-supported research institutions and Indian industry, reinforcing a collaborative  approach to advancing innovation and building a technologically self-reliant and stronger nation. 

Under the MoU, the two organisations will work together on a broad range of collaborative initiatives  in cell and gene therapy, including clinical studies, translational research, manufacturing expansion,  policy engagement, and educational programs. The partnership is designed to create a strategic  framework for future projects focused on accelerating innovation and enhancing patient outcomes in  India.

The partnership enables us to work closely with one of the  country’s foremost oncology institutions to accelerate clinical research, strengthen translational  science, and expand the development of innovative therapies for patients with complex and relapsed  cancers. Together, we aim to build a strong foundation for next-generation cancer care and contribute  to the long-term growth of India’s advanced therapeutics landscape.” 

Among the key projects currently identified under the collaboration is a Phase 2 extension study  evaluating the safety and efficacy of IMN-003A cell therapy in patients with relapsed and refractory 

CD19 positive B-cell malignancies, including both adult and pediatric patients. The partnership will also  explore a Phase 1/Phase 2 clinical study for IMN-006 cell therapy in patients with relapsed or refractory  multiple myeloma. 

In addition to clinical trials, the collaboration will focus on research activities involving basic and  preclinical studies on pipeline products, co-development of novel therapeutic entities, and initiatives  aimed at expanding manufacturing capabilities for advanced therapies in India. The MoU also outlines  plans for educational programs and knowledge-sharing initiatives to build awareness and strengthen  expertise in the rapidly evolving field of cell and gene therapy. 

Another important area of collaboration will include policy engagement efforts to help shape  frameworks for first-in-human clinical trials and support the broader development of India’s  regenerative medicine and advanced therapeutics ecosystem. 

By combining TMC’s extensive clinical and research expertise in oncology with Immuneel’s capabilities  in cell therapy development and manufacturing, the partnership aims to create a robust platform for  innovation that can potentially make advanced cancer treatments more accessible and affordable for  Indian patients. 

The collaboration is expected to support the generation of critical clinical and laboratory data, foster  scientific innovation, and contribute to building indigenous capabilities in advanced therapeutics. It  also reflects a growing commitment within India’s healthcare and biotechnology sectors to develop  globally competitive, patient-centric solutions for cancer care. 

As India continues to emerge as an important hub for biomedical innovation, the partnership between  Immuneel and Tata Memorial Centre is poised to play a meaningful role in advancing new age cancer  therapies and strengthening the country’s leadership in cell and gene therapy research.
