Rs. 24.92 lakhs raised in a week through crowdfunding on ImpactGuru.com to cover hospital expenses of Photographer fighting brain injury.

Mumbai based Photographer Nitish Arora rose to fame with his wedding and celebrity photoshoots. His client portfolio includes Neha Dhupia, Angad Bedi, Urvashi Rautela, Karthik Aryan amongst other artists.

Unfortunately, a few weeks back, Nitish met with an accident. The mishap was so severe that it resulted in Nitish suffering from Diffuse Axonal Injury (Traumatic Brain Injury). Nitish is currently admitted in the ICU at Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital, Mumbai.

Nitish’s family initially put in all their savings to cover treatment expenses. However, Nitish has a long way to go for complete recovery. So far, the cost estimate for hospitalization & numerous physiotherapies is Rs. 28 lakhs. Given the humongous expense, Nitish’s family members took to healthcare crowdfunding platform ImpactGuru.com. In a week’s time, the ImpactGuru fundraiser received immense support from Nitish’s well-wishers, including MTV personality Rannvijay Singh, Supermodels, Music Artists and the Bollywood fraternity. The fundraiser was extensively shared on Instagram and Facebook. 1287 donors have so far cumulatively contributed Rs. 24.92 lakhs.

Healthcare crowdfunding is an alternative method of raising funds online for medical expenses, with the patient (or his/her friends or family) primarily relying on social media networks to mobilise donors to finance the relevant medical bills. The additional advantage of crowdfunding is that patients do not have to repay that money back to the funders as the money provided online is a donation and not a loan.

ImpactGuru.com has become the largest crowdfunding platform in India for medical expenses. Over 25,000 patients have benefited from over 400,000 donors on ImpactGuru.com.
