Update on COVID-19 situation across India

The total number of recovered COVID-19 cases has fast outgrown the number of active COVID-19 cases. The difference between recoveries and active cases is fast nearing 1 lakh. The recovered cases have exceeded the active cases by 98,493 as of today.While the number of active cases stands at 1,97,387, the number of cured cases is 2,95,880. With this encouraging status, the recovery rate is touching 58.13% amongst COVID-19 patients.

Arunchal Pradesh:Total 10,790 samples have been collected for COVID19 tests. Active cases 46, recovered one. Results for more than 1700 tests are awaited.
Assam: 38 patients have been discharged as they tested negative for COVID19 twice in Assam. Total discharged patients 547, active patients 1770.

Manipur: 11 more persons test COVID19 positive taking total number of cases to 143 in Manipur. Recovered cases is 52 with a recovery rate of 36 percent.
Mizoram: Mizoram has received RT-PCR testing machine for COVID19. It will be installed at Zoram Medical College, Aizawl

Nagaland: In Nagaland, 12 more stranded citizens arrived by Air India flight from Guwahati. Returnees taken to Agri Expo for mandatory screening & segregation. Mokokchung Chamber of Commerce & Industry donates Rs 3 lakh to District Task Force on COVID19 for purchase of TRUE-NAT Machine accessories in Nagaland.

Kerala: State recorded one more Covid-19 death, taking the disease toll to 15. Former footballer and Santhosh Trophy player Hamsakkoya (63) who had been under treatment at Manjeri MC in Malappuram, died today. He is the first person in the state to undergo plasma therapy for Covid. His 5 family members are also being treated for Covid. Among the 190 health workers who were quarantined after having close contact with a Covid-19 patient in Kozhikode MC, samples of 118 people tested negative. Six more Keralites have succumbed to the virus in the Gulf with the toll crossing 170. The number of Covid cases in the state rose to three-digit yesterday, with 111 more people testing positive. 973 patients are still under treatment.

Tamil Nadu: Indira Gandhi MC in Puducherry to open for non-Covid patients from June 8. Meanwhile, five more persons tested positive in Puducherry taking the total number of cases to 104 in the UT. Tamil Nadu fixes per day rates for Covid-19 treatment at private hospitals: maximum of Rs 15,000 for ICU; for general ward, maximum of Rs 7500 in Grade 1 & 2 hospitals and Rs 5000 in Grade 3 & 4 hospitals. CM urges industries to use Tamil Nadu workers in place of migrants. Govt. hospitals in Chennai facing severe staff shortage because of surge in cases. 1438 new cases & 12 deaths reported yesterday with 1116 cases from Chennai. Total cases: 28694, Active cases: 12697, Deaths: 232, Discharged: 15762. Active cases in Chennai are 9437.

Karnataka: State government permits to open hotels and restaurants with necessary precautionary measures and following union government guidelines. State issues new SOP for Maharashtra returnees: 21-day home quarantine with negative report. Chikkamagalur district becomes covid free after 16 confirmed cases get cured. State sets a new, single-day record of Covid-19 cases with 515 positives on Friday, and in a continuing trend, 482 of them have come from other states. Total positive cases: 4835, Active cases: 3088, Deaths: 57, Recovered: 1688.

Andhra Pradesh: All set to conduct Darshan trial run in Tirumala temple from June 8; Alipri Check Post gets transformed as foolproof COVID-19 checkpoint. State tested a total number 4,36,335 samples with a positive rate of 1.02 per cent.161 new cases, 29 discharged and no death reported during last 24 hours after testing 12,771 samples. Total cases: 3588. Active: 1192, Recovered: 2323, Deaths: 73. Total number of migrants who tested positive is 741, with 467 of them active. 127 of the 131 cases from abroad remain active.

Telangana: Dialysis patients and their primary contacts are falling prey to novel corona virus, with four such cases reported on Friday. Telangana tops the secondary infection rate charts in the South, while it stands sixth across India amid growing fears over a rapid surge in Covid-19 cases. Total cases as on 4th June are 3290. As on date 448 migrants and foreign returnees tested positive.

Maharashtra: 2,436 new COVID-19 cases have been reported, taking the state tally of coronavirus positive cases to 80,229; while the number of active cases stand at 42,215. Hotspot Mumbai has reported 1,150 new infections, taking the total number of positive cases in the city to 45,854, out of which 25,539 patients have recovered so far. The recovery rate of Maharashtra stands at 43.81%, while case fatality rate is 3.55%.

Gujarat: 510 new COVID-19 cases have been reported, taking the state tally of coronavirus positive cases to more than 19,000. While 35 patients died due to COVID-19 on Friday, as many as 344 persons also recovered during the day. The recovery rate of the state is improving and it now stands at 68.05 per cent from 44.3 per cent in the last week of May.

Madhya Pradesh: 234 new COVID-19 cases were reported, taking the state tally of coronavirus positive cases to 8996, while the number of active cases stands at 2734. Most of the new cases have been reported from hotspots Indore and Bhopal, followed by Neemuch district. So far, 384 people have died.

Rajasthan: 44 new COVID-19 cases have been reported today, taking the state tally of coronavirus positive cases to 10,128.Most of the new cases were reported from Pali and Churu districts. The doubling rate of cases has gone up to 20 days in the state. Recovery rate also has improved to more than 70%.

Chhattisgarh: 127 new COVID-19 cases have been reported on Friday and 18 new cases have been reported today, taking the state tally of coronavirus positive cases to 894. It is the biggest spike in a single day in the state ever since the first case was detected on 18th of March. In last three days, 300 new cases were reported in the state.

Goa: 30 new COVID-19 cases reported, taking the state tally of coronavirus positive cases to 196. 415 travellers to the state have been put in quarantine facilities.
