In a major public health disaster at least 77 children admitted in J K Lon hospital in Rajasthan’s Kota have died in the month of December stated . Of the total , 10 deaths have been reported in the last 48 hours.
A committee was formed by the hospital on Tuesday to investigate into the deaths came out with a report which ruled out negligence by stating that the equipment needed to treat patients were were working properly.
Hospital superintendent Dr H L Meena on Wednesday said, “After investigating, we have found that all the 10 deaths were normal and did not die because of negligence.” As per the report, the investigation committee had found that the 10 children who died in the last 48 hours were in extremely critical condition and needed ventilator support.
Defending the deaths, hospital's head of Paedriatics ,Mr Amrit Lal Bairwa said,"According to NICU records 20% death is accpetable while percentage here is around 10% to 15%"."
Clearly state government does not buys this view and at the time of filing the report CM has ordered a probe and Rajasthan Child commission is looking up to the matter. Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot on Friday said that a team has been sent to Kota to look into the deaths. He said strict action will be taken against those found guilty.
