Speaking about the initiative Dr. Jothi Neeraja, Founder, Maarga Mind Care, said
“Mental health forms the very foundation of overall well-being, yet it continues to be one of the most overlooked aspects of healthcare in India. World Mental Health Day is a clear reminder of the fact that taking care of our emotional health is just as vital as our physical health. Through this awareness drive, we hope to spark open conversations, reduce stigma and help people recognize that seeking support is an act of strength and not weakness. By bringing these conversations into public spaces, we aim to create a community that listens, understands and stands together for mental well-being”.

With a mission to deliver compassionate, evidence-based and stigma-free care, Maarga Mind Care continues to work toward bridging India’s mental health treatment gap through its wide range of services from psychiatry and counseling to holistic art, music and dance therapies.

According to national estimates, the lifetime prevalence of mental disorders in India is approximately 13.7 % and active prevalence sits around 10.6 % as per the most comprehensive population surveys to date. However, a large proportion, which is between 70 % and 92 % of those in need remain untreated due to barriers such as stigma, lack of awareness and limited access to mental health care. To address this, Maarga Mind Care strives to deliver accessible services and community engagement that bring mental health care closer to every citizen.
