In view of the Covid 19 pandemic, the administration of Pimpri-Chinchwad in the Pune District of Maharashtra has decided to impose a curfew in Alandi town and its environs to restrict mass gathering for Karthiki Wari celebrations.
The curfew has been imposed for the next 10 days till 16th December so that the outbreak of Coronavirus does not increase due to the crowding of devotees in Alandi for the Sanjeevan Samadhi of Sant Dnyaneshwar and celebrations of Karthiki Wari.
Maharashtra is celebrating Uttpati Samarth Ekadashi on 10th December this year.
Every year during the Hindu month of Kartik, devotees referred to as Warkaris from all over Maharashtra assemble in Alandi to commence a spiritual journey to the Sant Dnyaneshwar Temple.
The walk is covered by people of all ages in colorful and vibrant clothes carrying the well-decorated paraphernalia of their saint.
This year due to the Corona pandemic, only 20 Warakaris have been allowed, including 3 Dindis coming from Pandharpur.
Besides orders have been issued to warkaris against crowding the Sanjeevan Samadhi ceremony.
However, passes are being issued for certain dignitaries.
