New Delhi, May 7, 2026: In a special case recognising exceptional determination and merit, Max Healthcare Foundation, the CSR arm of Max Healthcare, has extended support under its Max Medical Scholarship Programme to Atharv Chaturvedi, a 19-year-old student from Madhya Pradesh, who secured admission in an MBBS programme in Jabalpur following a Supreme Court order.

Atharv’s journey reflects remarkable resilience and grit. Despite qualifying the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) twice and meeting the eligibility criteria under the Economically Weaker Section (EWS) category, he was denied admission due to the non-implementation of the 10% EWS quota in private medical colleges in his state. Determined to pursue his goal, he approached the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India and represented himself.

In February 2026, the Hon’ble Supreme Court ruled in his favour, directing authorities to facilitate Atharv’s admission, noting that he had been denied the opportunity despite merit. While the verdict secured his place in a medical college, the financial burden of medical education remained a challenge. It was during this time that Max Healthcare Foundation, having come across his story through media reports, reached out to support him under the Max Medical Scholarship Programme, enabling him to continue his studies without financial constraints.

Commenting on the initiative, Mrs. Taruna Soi, Chairperson, Max Healthcare Foundation, said, “At Max Healthcare Foundation, we firmly believe that financial constraints should never hinder deserving students from pursuing a career in medicine. Atharv’s perseverance and clarity of purpose are truly inspiring. Through the Max Medical Scholarship Programme, we are proud to support his journey, providing not just financial assistance, but also the guidance needed to help him grow into a compassionate and skilled medical professional.”

The Max Medical Scholarship Programme is a flagship initiative of Max Healthcare Foundation aimed at supporting meritorious students from economically weaker sections pursuing medical education. Every year, the programme provides comprehensive financial assistance to 100 NEET-qualified students admitted to MBBS programmes in government medical colleges, covering tuition fees for the entire duration of the undergraduate course, along with additional support such as a laptop, textbooks, essential medical tools, and a monthly allowance.

Beyond financial assistance, the programme also provides structured mentorship sessions, academic guidance, and skill-building workshops designed to enhance clinical understanding, professional development, and overall preparedness, helping students become future-ready healthcare professionals.

Expressing his gratitude, Atharv Chaturvedi, Max Medical Scholar, said, “Becoming a doctor has always been my dream, but the journey has been filled with challenges and uncertainty.

After finally securing admission, financial constraints were a major concern for my family and me. I am deeply grateful to Max Healthcare Foundation for stepping in at the right time and supporting me. This encouragement has given me not just financial relief, but also confidence and motivation to focus on my studies and pursue my dreams. I hope to honour this support by working hard and, one day, giving back to society as a responsible and compassionate doctor.”

Max Healthcare Foundation continues to enable access to medical education for deserving students, empowering them to stay focused on their academic journey and emerge as the next generation of healthcare professionals in India.
