Lab powered by cutting-edge Japanese technology, to introduce Zirconium dental crowns to the Indian market

Mumbai, October 17th, 2019: Medikabazaar, India’s largest online B2B platform for medical supplies, recently partnered with CBC Corporation India Pvt. Ltd. (an ancillary organization under CBC Co. Ltd., Japan) to establish the first state-of-the-art dental laboratory in the country utilizing Zoo Labo’s technology. Zoo Labo is a prominent Japanese dental laboratory with over 40 years of experience in manufacturing high-quality crowns, bridges, and other dental supplies.

Established in 1974, in Kanagawa, Japan, Zoo Labo is one of the pioneers in introducing the CAD-CAM technology in the country. They will be providing their expertise and technological know-how to Medikabazaar, which will, in turn, help it to make top-of-the-line dental crowns and bridges for the Indian dental industry. The lab, which is situated at Medikabazaar’s headquarters in Andheri, Mumbai, will be Zoo Labo’s first venture outside their home country.

With the help of Zoo Labo, Medikabazaar will be manufacturing dental crowns made from Zirconium, which has similar characteristics to that of titanium. As dental crowns are used to replace a tooth, it is essential that the crown sustains for a long period of time. Zirconia is the hardest known ceramic in industry and the strongest material used in dentistry. With additional features such as anti-corrosion, minimal occlusal clearance of 1.5 mm, and its biocompatible material making it congruent with the mouth tissue, Zirconia crowns are set to revolutionize the Indian dental industry.

Speaking on the partnership and launch of the lab, Vivek Tiwari, Founder, and CEO, Medikabazaar said, “Medikabazaar has always strived to work towards enhancing the medical industry in India, and establishing this dental laboratory is just a constructive step towards that goal. We are happy to have partnered with Zoo Labo in association with CBC to give people in India access to cutting-edge Japanese technology.”

He further added, “The dental market in India is on a steady rise, and is expected to grow at 20-30 % due to a number of investment groups coming forward with multispecialty hospitals and both general and specialist dental treatments. With over 5000 dental laboratories and 250 dental institutes spread across the country, it is predicted that India will become amongst the largest single country markets for dental products and materials. With our vertical dedicated to promoting and selling world-class dental crowns, we are confident that we will contribute to this growth and be the preferred choice for Zirconia crowns amongst Indian dentists in the near future.”

So far, Medikabazaar has collaborated with Pro Dental League, a dental association founded by Dr. Sachin Gupta and Dr. Dhruvit Shah for the use of its new facilities. In the near future, the company is looking to capture the majority share in the Zirconia dental crowns market in the country by forming successful partnerships with various dental associations.
