Meghalaya reports 521 new Covid cases, 572 recoveries, 7 deaths

In Meghalaya, as COVID cases are surging and efforts are on to tackle and contain the spread, Health Minister Prestone Tynsong has urged the people not to come out unnecessarily from their houses. He reminded the people to wear masks and follow the COVID protocols strictly. He further requested the citizens to get vaccinated at the earliest.



The active COVID 19 cases in the State have shown no improvement as the positivity rate is at 8.23 percent. The State reported 521 new cases in the last 24 hours bringing the active cases to 5,516 while 572 recoveries were also registered. The State witnessed seven COVID 19 related deaths and all seven of them were not vaccinated. The total number of deaths stands at 1,125 and the total recovered cases have reached 60,375.



Apart from trying to flatten the curve, the Health Department is also facing the challenge of administering the COVID vaccine. Till date 11,12,807 people have received the vaccine out of which 9,05,672 have received the first and 2,07,135 people have received the second dose.
