“The tragedy that took place highlights the seriously alarming rise in youth mental health problems. With a drastic rise in mental health-related causes in the past few years, the suicide rate in India has increased from 10.2 per 100,000 in 2018 to 12.4 in 2022. Issues like loneliness, anxiety, depression may be inferred in children who display social isolation, engagement in virtual worlds, or digital dependence for emotional support. Isolation, technology overuse, and sudden behavioral changes must be considered as warning signs and not stages. Proper communication, digital responsibility, and early mental health interventions must be of the highest priority to families and schools because they can be lifesavers.”
