India has achieved a new peak of conducting more than nine crore Covid tests till date. During the last 24 hours, more than 11 lakh 45 thousand tests were conducted. The Health Ministry said, India has come a long way from conducting tests from just one lab in Pune in January this year to crossing nine crore 90 thousand tests.
The Ministry said that the country's COVID-19 recovery rate has reached 87.05 per cent. During the last 24 hours, more than 74 thousand COVID patients have recovered. The total number of recoveries has reached over 63 lakh. The constantly increasing recoveries have ensured that the actual caseload of the country has reduced and currently comprises only 11.42 per cent of the total positive cases. Presently, the total number of active cases in the country is eight lakh 26 thousand.
In the last 24 hours, 63 thousand 509 new cases have been reported taking the total number of positive cases in the country so far to over 72 lakh. The Ministry said, effective implementation of Centre's strategic and graded Test-Track-Treat approach has led to higher recoveries and lower fatality.
Currently, India’s Case Fatality Rate is at 1.53 per cent, which is one of the lowest globally. In the last 24 hours, 730 deaths have been reported taking the toll to one lakh ten thousand 586.
