Greater Noida, 1st May 2025: Sharda Care Healthcity, a leading super-specialty hospital, marked World Immunization Week (April 24–30) under the theme "Immunization for all is humanly possible." Led by the Department of Pediatrics, the week-long campaign aimed to raise awareness about the life-saving importance of vaccines. Activities included interactive sessions for parents at the Pediatrics OPD, Gynaecology OPD, and Post-natal Ward. The highlight of the week was a CME event, inaugurated by Hon’ble Chancellor Mr. P.K. Gupta, featuring a postgraduate quiz and guest lectures by faculty. To further spread awareness and engage young medical professionals, a PG debate was held along with a poster competition on the importance of immunization, which saw enthusiastic participation from interns, MBBS students, nursing students, and staff.

Despite progress in immunization efforts, India continues to face gaps in vaccine coverage, particularly among children in underserved regions. According to World Health Organization and UNICEF estimates, 14.5 million children globally missed all routine vaccinations in 2023, up from 13.9 million in 2022. India alone accounted for 2 million of these zero-dose children, highlighting a growing immunization gap.[1] This gap leaves children vulnerable to preventable diseases.

Dr Poonam Vij - Assitant Professor - Department of Pediatrics., Sharda Care Healthcity, emphasized, "Immunization is not just a public health measure—it is a right every child must have access to. It remains one of the most cost-effective interventions across all age groups—from infancy to old age—ensuring not only individual protection but also community immunity. Awareness, access, and timely administration are vital to achieving universal coverage. At Sharda Care Healthcity, we strive to educate and empower parents with the knowledge that timely vaccines can protect their children from life-threatening illnesses."

Mr. P.K. Gupta, Chancellor of Sharda University and Chairman of Sharda Group, added, " As India progresses in healthcare with preventive care at its core, immunization stands as a strong pillar in safeguarding the future of our country—our children. Through initiatives like World Immunization Week, we reaffirm our commitment to promoting preventive healthcare. It is our collective responsibility to ensure that awareness reaches every corner of society, so that no child is left behind.”

With its state-of-the-art infrastructure and dedicated healthcare team, Sharda Care Healthcity plays a pivotal role in promoting vaccine literacy and ensuring communities embrace the importance of timely immunization for a healthier future.
