16th January 2025: In an extraordinary initiative blending spirituality with healthcare, Sharp Sight Eye Hospitals has collaborated with the Netra Kumbh, the largest free eye care camp ever undertaken in the world. This monumental 50-day endeavor aims to transform lives by providing accessible and comprehensive vision care services to pilgrims and visitors attending the sacred Mahakumbh in Prayagraj.

Netra Kumbh is poised to set remarkable milestones in healthcare delivery. Over the 50 days, the camp aims to:

  • Conduct 5,00,000 free eye tests to screen for vision problems and eye diseases.
  • Deploy an expert team of 500 ophthalmologists to offer specialized diagnostics and consultations.
  • Distribute 3,00,000 spectacles to individuals needing refractive corrections.
  • Engage 1,000 optometrists to ensure smooth execution of the initiative.
  • Perform 50,000 eye surgeries for individuals suffering from severe vision impairments, including cataracts and other critical eye conditions.

This initiative underscores the scale and compassion that the Netra Kumbh project brings to millions, highlighting its alignment with the spiritual and humanitarian values of the Mahakumbh.

Netra Kumbh is not limited to eye care but also aims to raise awareness about the importance of regular eye check-ups and preventive healthcare. The camp will provide state-of-the-art facilities, including awareness programs on common eye diseases, such as cataracts, glaucoma, and diabetic retinopathy, while emphasizing the significance of early detection.

Speaking about the initiative, Dr. (Col.) Sudheer Verma, Senior Consultant, Sharp Sight Eye Hospitals, shared, “Netra Kumbh is not just about restoring sight; it’s about restoring hope and dignity to those who have been silently suffering due to poor vision. This initiative reflects our commitment to making vision care accessible to all and contributing to a brighter future for communities.”

Adding to this, Ms. Deepshika Sharma, CEO, Sharp Sight Eye Hospitals said, “The collaboration between Sharp Sight and Netrakumbh in Mahakumbh 2025 is a groundbreaking step towards addressing the eye health needs of millions. Clear vision not only enhances daily living but also empowers individuals to lead productive and fulfilling lives. We are thankful to the organizers of Netrakumbh for giving us an opportunity to be a part of this mega event.”

The Netra Kumbh initiative is designed to serve underserved populations, many of whom may have never had access to proper eye care. With a massive influx of pilgrims expected, the program ensures that everyone irrespective of their age, gender, or economic background has access to free, high-quality eye care. By tackling avoidable blindness and improving vision, Netra Kumbh seeks to empower individuals and communities, fostering a lasting impact on their lives.

Sharp Sight Eye Hospitals welcomes pilgrims, visitors, and volunteers to join hands in this noble endeavor. Together, let us make this Mahakumbh an unforgettable celebration of sight, service, and spirituality under the guiding vision of "Aao Achcha Dekhen."
