Chennai, May 25, 2026: A pioneer in adopting advanced endoscopic ultrasound systems (EUS), SRM Global Hospitals, in association with SRM Medical College Hospital and Research Centre, recently organised a one-day national workshop focused on the latest imaging innovations for the diagnosis and treatment of complex gastroenterological disorders.

The workshop focused on cutting-edge developments in gastroenterology and minimally invasive therapeutic procedures, with special emphasis on advanced EUS applications in gastrointestinal diagnostics and treatment. The scientific program featured expert-led sessions, case-based discussions, and demonstrations highlighting the latest innovations in the field.

The workshop was inaugurated by Prof Dr. R. Jayanthi, Dean, SRM Medical College Hospital and Research Centre, and Dr. Vinay Dhir, Chairman of the India EUS Club in the presence of Dr. V. P. The event attracted the participation of over 100  gastroenterology consultants, postgraduate trainees, academicians, and faculty members from across the country.

In her address, Prof Dr. R. Jayanthi emphasised the growing significance of advanced endoscopic imaging technologies in modern gastroenterology and highlighted the importance of continuous academic collaboration and skill enhancement in improving patient outcomes. She reiterated the institution’s commitment to academic excellence, adoption of cutting-edge medical technology, and delivery of advanced patient care services.

“The technologies are expected to significantly enhance diagnostic precision, tissue characterisation, early disease detection, and clinical decision-making in complex gastrointestinal disorders such as fatty liver disease, liver fibrosis and cirrhosis, pancreatic disorders, inflammatory bowel disease, gastrointestinal cancers, gallbladder diseases, and abdominal vascular abnormalities,” she added.

Dr.  Chandrasekaran Paramapillai stated that the workshop reaffirms SRM Global Hospitals’ vision of emerging as a centre of excellence in advanced gastrointestinal care and research-driven clinical practice. The institution continues to focus on bringing world-class technology, specialised training opportunities, and academic exposure to healthcare professionals and patients alike.

He pointed out that SRM Global Hospitals and SRM Medical College Hospital and Research Centre are among the first institutions in the country, and among a select few globally, to install and introduce the latest advanced EUS imaging platform to bring next-generation technologies in gastrointestinal care to the patients. “We have emerged as important centres for advanced EUS-guided diagnostics and interventions. Last year alone, they successfully performed nearly 600 EUS-guided diagnostic and interventional procedures,” he said.

The organising faculty of the workshop comprised Dr. Rajesh, Dr. Mahadevan, and Dr. Harshavardhan, who played an instrumental role in coordinating the scientific sessions and hands-on training modules.
