Talegaon:  On the occasion of World Cancer Day, TGH Onco Life Cancer Centre, Talegaon Dabhade, organised a series of meaningful and patient-centric initiatives aimed at spreading cancer awareness, strengthening emotional well-being, and fostering community support.  The centre brought together patients, caregivers, healthcare professionals, and community partners to create a day filled with motivation, learning, and hope.

A special “Yoddha Patient Support Group Meeting” was conducted to provide psychological support and encouragement to cancer patients and their families. The session offered a safe and supportive platform for sharing experiences, emotions, and strength, with 48 patients actively participating. Moreover, the Kalpini Hasya Club, Talegaon Dabhade, conducted laughter therapy sessions, demonstrating how laughter can help reduce stress, ease pain, and improve mental well-being during cancer treatment.

Nutrition awareness formed an important part of the programme. Ms. Shruti Deshpande, Dietitian, interacted with patients and shared practical dietary guidance to support treatment and recovery. Strengthening emotional bonds further, Ms. Jyoti Patil Shah from V Care Foundation, Mumbai, connected closely with patients, encouraged open conversations, creating a comfortable environment.

The programme was graced by the presence of Honourable Chairman Mr. Uday Deshmukh, who distributed gifts to children undergoing cancer treatment, reflecting the centre's  principle of “Service above Self.” The event was successfully organised under the leadership of Managing Director Mr. Sachin Deshmukh and Unit Head Dr. Santosh Sahu, ensuring a meaningful impact.

On the same occasion, a Blood Donation Camp was organised within the hospital premises. Hospital staff members and patients’ relatives participated enthusiastically, resulting in 50 successful blood donations. To further promote awareness, a Poster Competition was held for hospital staff and nursing college students, with prizes awarded to the top three entries for their creative and impactful messages on cancer awareness.

Mr. Uday Deshmukh, Chairman & Founder CEO, said, “World Cancer Day reminds us that cancer care goes beyond treatment. Emotional support, compassion, and standing by patients and their families are equally important.”

Mr. Sachin Deshmukh, Managing Director, said, “This platform allowed us to bring together awareness, patient support, and community responsibility in a meaningful way.”

Dr. Santosh Sahu, Unit Head, said, “Support groups and awareness activities play a vital role in helping patients cope emotionally during their treatment journey.”

Ms. Jyoti Patil Shah,  V Care Foundation, Mumbai, said, “When patients feel heard and emotionally supported, it positively influences their healing and confidence.”
