Lauded by masses across social media, Film Crosses 8 million+ Views.

National, 16 October: With the goal of spreading awareness and raise public consciousness about Breast Cancer, Medanta Hospital Gurgaon launched an awareness film. Within a brief span of time, lauded by masses across social media platforms, the film crossed 8 million+ views reaching an exciting milestone. The video, produced by Gurgaon-based Medanta – The Medicity, which has been named Best Private Hospital in India by Newsweek for six years in a row, is part of the hospital’s “Jaanta Hai Medanta” movement, dedicated to driving action against cancer.

Titled “Banno Ki Rasm”, the 2 minute 28 second video reimagines the self-breast exam as a tradition of strength, self-love, and care— passed down from one generation to the next — and urges women to make the self-breast exam a monthly ritual once females reach adulthood.

Hailing the success of the awareness film, Dr Naresh Trehan, Chairman & Managing Director, Medanta said, “Women are the backbone of a progressive society, balancing personal and professional responsibilities while making critical life decisions. Through this film, Medanta reaffirms its commitment to empowering women by addressing this key health concern and doing away with the stigma around it.”

Breast cancer is one of the most common types of cancer, representing one in four of all cancers in women worldwide. In 2022, an estimated 6.7 lakh died of the disease globally, with India one of the worst hit countries.

Despite being such a widespread ailment, Breast Cancer continues to cost lives due to the stigma associated with the disease, along with late detection and lack of awareness. Through “Banno Ki Rasm”, Medanta aims to do away with the shame and silence, encouraging women to break barriers around breast health and promoting early detection in order to make a meaningful impact on the lives of countless women.

Dr. Kanchan Kaur, Senior Director, Breast Cancer at Medanta – The Medicity said, “Regular screening and self-checks for breast cancer are vital because early detection greatly improves treatment outcomes and survival rates. Simple practices such as being aware of changes in the breast, performing self-examinations, and attending recommended mammograms can make a significant difference in catching the disease before it spreads.”

With its continued momentum, “Banno Ki Rasm” is expected to attract even more viewers in the days ahead, reaching more women, breaking the stigma, and empowering them to take charge of their health.
