Uttar Pradesh govt to launch special focused covid vaccination drive

UP starts focused drive for vaccination

Uttar Pradesh government will launch a special focused covid vaccination drive from today. The drive will focus on the beneficiaries of different social groups who are above 45 years age. AIR Lucknow correspondent reports that the drive will continue till the 23rd of this month.


 
Chief medical officer in all districts of the state will be in charge of this drive. Mission Director National Health Mission Uttar Pradesh Aparna Upadhyay said, journalists media workers, and retail and wholesale shopkeepers will be vaccinated today and tomorrow.


 Bank and insurance employees will get their vaccine on coming Saturday while teachers of schools and colleges will be vaccinated from 12th to 14th of this month. On 15th and 16th April it will be the turn of auto-rickshaw drivers, taxi drivers and employees of the construction sector while from 17th to 19th April Government employees and officers other than frontline workers will be vaccinated.
 
Lawyers and workers of the judiciary will be vaccinated on 20 and 21st April while private sector employees will be vaccinated on 22nd and 23rd April.  The help of different unions and employees associations will be taken in this drive.

Meanwhile, the state is witnessing a sharp increase in the covid cases. With 6023 new covid patients in the last 24 hours, the State currently has 31987 active cases. 40 deaths have been reported yesterday in the state.
