The newly launched VELYS Robotic-Assisted Solution brings advanced precision, CT-free workflow, and personalised surgical planning to knee replacement care.

Chennai, November 19, 2025: VS Hospitals, a trusted multispeciality healthcare centre, has launched the VELYS Robotic-Assisted Solution at its Kilpauk facility. The VELYS system is an innovative, next-generation technology designed to assist surgeons in performing highly precise and personalised knee replacement surgeries. As part of the launch, the hospital is offering free orthopaedic consultations until the end of this month.

The facility was formally launched by former Indian cricketer Mr. Krishnakumar Dinesh Karthik, in the presence of Prof. Dr. S. Sundar, Medical Director, Tumour, Revision Joint Replacement, Pelvic Acetabular Surgeon, and Robotic Arthroplasty Surgeon, Institute of Orthopaedics and Robotic Arthroplasty, Prof. Dr. S. Subramanian, Senior Medical Oncologist and Chairman & Managing Director, Mr. Muthu Subramanian, Executive Director,   Mr. Prassanna Srinivasan, Group COO, Mr. S Ramu Mahalingam, Director – Finance, VS Hospitals.

In his comments, Prof. Dr. Sundar said, “We are delighted to introduce the VELYS Robotic-Assisted Solution at our institute, as it is a transformative advancement in knee replacement care, offering the ability to provide real-time surgical insights, eliminate the need for pre-operative CT scans, and deliver exceptional accuracy in implant positioning. The system enhances surgical planning by providing detailed, real-time information about the patient’s knee alignment and soft-tissue balance, helping surgeons make informed decisions throughout the procedure. Its CT-free workflow not only reduces cost and preparation time but also minimises radiation exposure for patients. By using advanced optical tracking and precision-guided tools, the technology supports accurate bone resection and optimal implant placement. These features help us to ensure improved mobility, reduced post-operative pain, and faster recovery.”

He added that the knee is one of the most complex and heavily used joints in the human body, and even minor damage can significantly affect mobility and quality of life. “That is why knee replacement demands not only surgical expertise but also advanced technology that enhances precision and safety. With innovations like robotic-assisted systems, we can offer our patients more accurate procedures, improved outcomes, and a faster return to their daily activities,” he noted.

VS Hospitals’ Institute of Orthopaedics and Robotic Arthroplasty offers comprehensive and advanced joint care, covering a wide range of procedures such as Total Knee and Hip Replacements, Revision Hip Surgeries, Shoulder and Elbow interventions, Pelvic Osteotomy, Pelvic Acetabular Surgery, and tumour limb-saving procedures. The centre is also known for specialised solutions like smart technique knee replacement, unicompartmentalized knee replacement, and reverse shoulder arthroplasty, making it a trusted destination for complex orthopaedic conditions.

The department is equipped with modern facilities, including intra-operative image guidance, 24-hour CT scan services, physiotherapy and laser therapy, and computer-assisted rehabilitation. It also provides dedicated paediatric orthopaedic care for conditions such as clubfoot, limb length differences, gait issues, fractures, infections, and hip disorders.
