Continuing with the rising cases of Corona infection in the country, Bangladesh on Tuesday reported the highest number of fresh Corona infections. On Tuesday, 2911 people tested positive for Corona infection in the country over the last 24 hours taking the total number of infected people to 52,445. During this period 37 patients died due to Corona raising the number of deaths to 709.
In the meanwhile, the first death due to Corona virus in the Rohingya refugee camps was reported at Ukhiya in Cox's Bazar area of Bangladesh. The Cox's Bazar area shelters more than a million Rohingya refugees who came to Bangladesh after military crackdown in Rakhine Province of Myanmar in 2017.
In order to contain further spread of Corona in the country, government has decided to divide the country into red, green and yellow zones depending upon the severity of the Corona virus spread. Health Minister Zahid Maleq said on Monday that health experts will work out the Zoning details. Based on this, decision about lock-down can be taken for severely affected areas.
Subsequent to the opening of offices and markets, government of Bangladesh has instructed that only 25 percent staff will be allowed in the office at any point of time.
To check the spread of infections, ICT Division of the Government of Bangladesh and the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) have launched an app to trace Corona infected people and people near them. The smartphone-based app ‘Corona Tracer BD’ utilizes Bluetooth signal to trace a Corona infected person nearby.
Launching the app on a trial basis on Thursday, the State Minister for ICT Zunaid Ahmad Palak urged the smart phone users to download the app to stop the spread of the Coronavirus. During the virtual launch of the app, the Minister said that the app will help in preventing the spread of Coronavirus and facilitate authorities in taking preventive measures.
The app will also help the government in determining areas with high risk of Coronavirus.
Continuing with various measures to deal with the rapidly increasing Coronavirus cases in the country, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has approved the proposal to recruit 3000 medical technologists to assist the healthcare services in the country. Earlier, the government had appointed 2000 physicians and more than 5000 nurses last month following the outbreak of Corona pandemic in the country.
Meanwhile, Nepal has reported one more COVID-19 fatality. A 45-year old man from Palpa district died due to coronavirus.According to the Ministry of Health and Population, with this the COVID-19 deaths in the Himalayan nation have reached ten.
The Ministry spokesperson said 334 more persons were diagnosed with COVID-19 during the last 24 hours taking the total number to 2,634.This is the first time when Nepal has reported more than 300 cases of coronavirus infection in a single day since the outbreak of the pandemic.
According to the latest reports, twelve people have recovered and discharged from hospital today. There are 2334 active cases, while 290 people have been recovered so far.Ten persons have died of COVID-19. Out of 77 districts of Nepal, 65 districts have reported coronavirus infection till date.
