To a great relief to Delhi Health Minister Satyendar Jain, he was discharged from hospital on Friday once he had tested negative for COVID-19. During the course of tests, Jain had tested positive for COVID-19 on June 17, two days after he was admitted to the Rajiv Gandhi Super Speciality Hospital (RGSSH, though he was initially tested negative.
Jain, 55, was shifted to the ICU of Max Hospital, Saket, on June 19 after his condition had started deteriorating. Jain was removed from the ICU of the dedicated COVID-19 facility on June 22, two days once he was administered plasma therapy.
On June 15, Jain was immediately shifted to RGSSH following high fever, respiratory problems, and a sudden drop by in oxygen levels. COVID-19 test on June 16 report returned negative. This was followed by his COVID-19 test for the second time that detected he was positive.
Union Minister Amit Shah had tweeted, "Praying for the speedy recovery of Shri Satyendra Jain, Health Minister of Delhi who is battling with COVID-19 infection."
Reportedly, Jain had attended several meetings before he was hospitalised and addressed press conferences to update the COVID-19 situation across Delhi.
That includes the meeting called by Union Minister Amit Shah on June 14 alongside Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. Jain and Kejriwal had also travelled together in the Kejriwal's car after the meeting.
Now, authorities in Delhi are geared up to undertake a mammoth exercise to arrest the spread of the Coronavirus disease amid a rising number of cases in the national capital--one among the worst affected within the country.
The serological survey -- a part of the newly coined COVID-19 response plan -- is predicted to assist officials to prepare a broad strategy to combat the pandemic.
The exercise is going to be jointly performed by the State government and the National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) from today through July 10.

"As per the directives of HM @AmitShah, the discussion was done on the serological survey in Delhi, which can be administered jointly by NCDC and Delhi Government. The survey will begin from June 27, training of all the concerned survey teams was completed yesterday," a home ministry spokesperson tweeted on Friday.

On June 25, Union Home Secretary revisited the implementation of varied decisions on COVID in Delhi which were taken on June 21 during a meeting chaired by HM @AmitShah. Member Niti Aayog, Director AIIMS, DG ICMR alongside Delhi's Chief Secretary & Health Secretary attended the meeting.

A total of 20,000 tests are going to be conducted across all the districts of Delhi, across all sections and ages, consistent with the official order.
The order precisely mentioned that the deputy commissioners of each district will be at complete assistance to survey field teams.
This programme will help to make a comprehensive analysis of COVID-19 in the city get ready with a broad strategy at large to combat the pandemic within the capital, a ministry statement had reportedly said.
Delhi has 77,240 infections thus far and 2,492 people have died thanks to the virus.
