States like Andhra Pradesh, Telangana have contacted Dr. Reddy for acquiring Sputnik V vaccine. Dr. Reddy’s would be working with hospitals in Tier-1 cities that are capable of maintaining storage conditions of vaccines. The company has received 1.5 lakh doses of vaccine last week and has a supply commitment of 36 million doses from RDIF in the next two months. An initial supply of 15 – 20 % will be imported from Russia. Dr. Reddy’s said, as soon as the vaccine starts getting manufactured in India, the vaccine price will come down.
The company may seek permission for emergency use authorization of Sputnik light single-dose vaccine to the Indian Drug Regulator in the coming weeks.
Dr. Reddy has tied up with Apollo Hospitals to do the trial rollout of Sputnik V vaccine. The company will use the services of Apollo Hospital Network in storage, transportation, administering and monitoring of people taking the vaccine. Apollo hospital will price vaccines at rupees 1200 – 1250 per dose. Soon initial rollout of the vaccine will be extended to the metros. The company has also tied up with Continental Hospitals.
