It is part of the new COVID-19 response plan prepared as per the recommendations of the committee, headed by NITI Aayog member Dr V K Paul. On the directions of Home Minister Amit Shah, the Committee was constituted on 14th June to submit a report on Containment Strategy on COVID-19 for Delhi.

On Sunday, Mr Shah reviewed Delhi's Covid-19 situation with Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal and Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and discussed recommendations made by the committee. He said, only those COVID positive cases who do not have adequate facilities at home to ensure physical segregation and do not have other medical conditions would require to be shifted to Covid Care centres and other facilities.

During the four days visit, the team will interact with state government officials over the pandemic. It will be led by the Joint Secretary in the Health Ministry.
