Telangana government has constituted a three-member task force to check the complaints of exorbitant fee charged by private hospitals for treating COVID patients.

The government has nominated three IAS officers Rahul Bojja, D. Divya and Sarfaraz Ahmed as members of the task force.

Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao informed Assembly that the government has been trying its best to ensure that treatment was carried out in government hospitals and kept on-hold the decision to allow private hospitals to treat such patients.

However, it had to allow treatment in private hospitals following instructions issued by the courts of law.He assured the House that necessary action will be initiated to ensure that costs of treatment in private hospitals are under control.The Government has also issued orders setting up the task force in the late evening.

The task force will verify whether the corporate hospitals are collecting fees in line with charges stipulated by the government, and safety protocols are being adhered to by these hospitals.

Telangana today reported 1802 fresh COVID -19 cases during the past 24 hours taking the number of cases reported so far in the state to 1,42,771 (1,42,771). Reporting of new cases registered a significant dip, the state conducted only about 3600 tests during the past 24 hours. The recovery rate also slightly improved to 77.2 per cent with 2711 more persons recovering yesterday. This took the number of recovered people to 1,10, 241 (1,10,241).

Meanwhile, India has scaled a new high of nearly 75,000 recoveries of COVID-19 in a single day. The total number of people recovered from coronavirus has surged to a record 74 thousand 894 in the last 24 hours. With this, nearly 34 lakh people in the country have recovered from the viral pandemic.

The overall recovery rate has also maintained its upward trend and has now reached 77.77 per cent. The Health Ministry has said, the constant increase in recoveries have ensured that the actual caseload of the country has reduced and currently comprises only 20.53 per cent of the total positive cases. The number of recovered patients has overtaken the active cases by nearly 3.8 times.

The Ministry said, the number of recovered patients in the country has grown over three times in a span of one month. The Health Ministry has informed that the sustained high recovery rate is fuelled by 9 states and Union Territories reporting recovery rate of over 80 per cent.These states include Bihar, Tamil Nadu, Delhi, West Bengal, Rajasthan and Gujarat among others.

The ministry has informed that aggressive measures towards early identification, prompt and effective treatment and enhanced clinical skills of ICU doctors have actively led to progressive enhancement of India's Total Recoveries. It said high levels of recovery is being reported from various States and union territories and almost 60 per cent of the total recovered cases are pooled in by the 5 States of Maharashtra , Andhra Pradesh , Karnataka , Uttar Pradesh and Tamil Nadu.

Effective implementation of 'Test, Track and Treat' approach has led to higher recoveries and lower fatality. Currently, India’s Case Fatality Rate is at 1.69 per cent. India has progressively maintained a low Case Fatality Rate compared to the global average which is above 3 per cent. There are 17 States and UTs in the country which have reported fatality rates lower than 1 per cent.
