Delhi Health Minister Satyendar Jain, who was hospitalised for COVID-19 treatment, showed improvement in his condition but worryingly his fever was yet to come down, senior officials reportedly said.
Jain, 55, is in oxygen support on and off according to the requirement, they said.
Jain had tested positive for COVID-19 on Wednesday, a day after he was admitted to Rajiv Gandhi Super Speciality Hospital (RGSSH) hereafter running a high-grade fever and suffering a sudden drop in oxygen levels.
"His fever is down a touch today. He was kept on oxygen supply for an extended time today. But his condition is better," a senior official of the hospital was quoted as saying said.
Apparently contact tracing of individuals who came in touch with him personally in the last few days has started, and that they are going to be quarantined as per the recommendation of doctors.
On Sunday, the Health Minister came in contact with chaired by Union Home Minister Amit Shah in a high-level meeting chaired by the latter, which also marked the presence of Delhi Lt Governor Anil Baijal, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, his deputy Manish Sisodia and Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan.
Jain was admitted to the RGSSH Tuesday and tested for novel coronavirus infection where it came negative.
While repeating the test on Wednesday the result returned was positive.
Union Government today said that the recovery rate has reached 53.80% within the country and a total of 204711 people affected with Coronavirus are cured thus far. During the last twenty-four hours, 10,386 people have recovered from COVID-19. Presently, the entire number of active Corona cases within the country is 1,63248.
Health and Family Welfare Ministry said a total of 13586 fresh cases of COVID-19 were reported within the last 24 hours taking the entire number of cases to 380 532. this is the highest count of cases registered during a single day since the outbreak of COVID-19 within the country. At some point, 336 deaths were reported taking the nationwide toll to 12573. With this, the case death rate reached 3.30% within the country.
Meanwhile, the Indian Council of Medical Research, ICMR said that a total of 176959 tests of Coronavirus samples were conducted by the varied laboratories within the country within 24 hours. this is often the very best number of tests conducted by the laboratories during a single day. So far, 6426 627 tests are conducted.
ICMR is continuously scaling up its testing facilities for COVID-19 by giving approval to government and personal laboratories.
Till now, 960 laboratories across India are given the approval to conduct the test for COVID-19 including 703 government laboratories and 257 private laboratories' chains.
