Bollywood is having a disastrous week amidst lockdown two stalwarts passes away in last two days creating a vacuum which is hard to fill

It is not Covid 19 but still Bollywood is mourning loss of two stellar actors. Veteran actor Rishi Kapoor died on Thursday at HN Reliance Hospital in Mumbai. He was 67 years old. On Wednesday, Rishi Kapoor was admitted to the hospital after complaining of breathlessness. In September last year, Rishi returned from the US for treatment of cancer. This comes as a big shock for Bollywood just after the sad demise of Irrfan Khan yesterday.

Information and Broadcasting Minister Prakash Javadekar expressed deep condolences on the death of Rishi Kapoor  while Bollywood's Big B Amitabh Bachchan tweeted that Rishi was no more. He said that he has completely broken down with his death. Actor and BJP Parliamentarian Ravi Kishan said that it is a black day for Bollywood while Raka president Sharad Pawar commented that Bollywood has lost a great artist. Actress and singer Ila Arun said that Rishi was a very lovely person. Earlier on Wednesday, Irfan Khan, another famous actor of Bollywood, passed away.

Rishi Kapoor had an enviable career graph,he received the National Film Award for his debut role as a child artist in his fathers Raj Kapoor's 1970 film Mera Naam Joker (1970).While  Kapoor had his first lead role as an adult opposite Dimple Kapadia in 1973 with the film Bobby and received the Filmfare Best Actor Award in 1974.

Before his death he played leading roles as the romantic lead in 92 films between 1973 and 2000, of which 36 were box office hits.For his performance in Do Dooni Chaar, he won the Filmfare Critics Award for Best Actor in 2011, and for his role in Kapoor & Sons, he won the Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actor in 2017. He was honoured with the Filmfare Lifetime Achievement Award in 2008. He appeared opposite his wife Neetu Singh in twelve films from 1973 and 1981.

Yesterday Bollywood's famous actor Irrfan Khan also died in Mumbai. He was 54 years old. On Tuesday, he was admitted to Kokilaben Hospital in Andheri after his health deteriorated. There is a wave of mourning in the entire Bollywood due to the death of Irrfan. Irfan was also suffering from a disease called neuro-endocrine tumor. For which he was treated for a year living in Britain. Irfan returned to India in April 2019 after treatment. Post operation, he also completed the shooting of his English medium film. However, due to the lockdown, the film could not be released in theaters properly.

Khan was born in Jaipur, Rajasthan, to a Muslim Pashtun family.  Irrfan was  selected for the CK Nayudu Tournament (for emerging players under 23 years, a stepping stone to First Class cricket). He did not turn up for the tournament owing to lack of funds.He was studying for his MA degree when he earned a scholarship to study at National School of Drama (NSD) in New Delhi in 1984.Theatre and television kept him afloat until Mira Nair offered him a cameo in Salaam Bombay! (1988) though his role was edited out in the final film.

In the 1990s, he appeared in the critically acclaimed films Ek Doctor Ki Maut and Such a Long Journey (1998) and various other films which went unnoticed. In 1998, Khan played role of "Rantnakar" the Bandit, aka "Valmiki" who was BANDIT and turned into the well known Monk / Poet who wrote "The Ramayana" in Sanjay Khan's serial "Jay Hanuman". After many unsuccessful films, things changed when London-based director Asif Kapadia gave him the lead in The Warrior, a historical film completed in 11 weeks on location in Himachal Pradesh and Rajasthan. In 2001 The Warrior opened in international film festivals, making Khan a known face.
