Rajasthan on Sunday recorded 242 new cases ,the state is reporting 200 cases daily

In the highest single-day spike, Rajasthan numbers climbed by 242 new cases of Covid-19 on Sunday, taking the total to 5,202 with five deaths taking the number of casualties to 131.

According to health officials, 242 cases reported on Sunday includes 60 from Jaipur, 43 from Jodhpur, 18 from Dungarpur, and 14 from Pali.

Due to the outbreak in the jails on Saturday, 119 cases were reported from two prisons in Jaipur district. On Sunday,14 cases were diagnosed from the two jails.

The Rajasthan high court had earlier taken suo moto cognizance of the Covid-19 outbreak in jails and ordered the state government to form committees in every district comprising secretary of district legal services authority, chief medical and health officer and the president or secretary of the district bar association to check if jails were following government’s guidelines on prevention of infection. It said the committees will visit the jails and submit their report to Rajasthan State Legal Services Authority

Rajasthan has crossed the 5,000 mark on Sunday morning, ending at 5,202, which includes 61 citizens from Iran and 49 of Border Security Force (BSF) personnel.


Out of the 5,202 cases, 3,055 have recovered and 2,655 of them even sent home. The number of active cases in the state is 2,016.

Five deaths were also reported in the state on Sunday – two from Jaipur and one each from Bharatpur, Bikaner, and Kota.

Rajasthan has so far tested 231,946 samples, out of which 221,764 tested negative and 5,103 are under process.

Meanwhile, neighboring state of Gujarat reported  11,380 cases with 391 new cases reported during the last 24 hours. According to Health officials, 6184 patients are stable while 38 patients are on ventilator support. 34 patients have lost their lives during the last 24 hours taking the total death toll of COVID-19 in the state to 625.

In an online briefing, Principal Secretary of State Health and Family Welfare department Dr. Jayanti Ravi said that 191 patients have been discharged from the hospital during the last 24 hours taking the total number of patients discharged in the state till now to 4308.

The total number of cases in Ahmedabad has gone up to 8420, where 524 patients died while 2660 have been discharged from the hospitals. Chief Minister Vijay Rupani has said that the guidelines related to lockdown 4 will be finalized today.

At the one end, the COVID-19 cases in the state are constantly increasing, but at the other end, the recovery rate also improved and gone up to 39.53 percent. As the nationwide lockdown extended up to 31st May, the State government has decided to finalize the new guidelines by today evening. Chief Minister Sh Vijay Rupani announced that the people will get relaxations, but lockdown 4 will also be implemented very strictly. He said that the people will be fined Rs.200 for not wearing a mask and spitting at public places. According to sources, the government is likely to allow the movement of two and three-wheeler from tomorrow.
